Area Colleges Now Ride GoRaleigh for Free Under GoPass Program

GoRaleigh, the City of Raleigh’s transit service, welcomes three new colleges to its GoPass program: Saint Augustine’s University, Shaw University and Wake Technical Community College are now program participants.

To celebrate, GoRaleigh, along with District C City Council Member Corey Branch, and faculty, staff and students from Saint Augustine’s, Shaw and Wake Tech, held a press conference on Wednesday, August 31, at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin Street bus shelter area at Moore Square, 263 E. Martin St. The GoPass benefits the newly added colleges and students by providing free transportation on GoRaleigh buses. GoRaleigh provided opportunities to board the bus, learn about fare box usage, how to load a bike and how to navigate the city with transit.

GoPass program details:

The GoPass program allows registered employers/colleges and their employees/students the opportunity to ride GoRaleigh buses for free. Once the participating employer/college has enrolled in the program, they receive GoPass swipe cards. The pass is swiped at the fare box in lieu of a regular bus fare. A GoPass can only be used by the employee/student of the sponsoring agency.

North Carolina State University, Meredith College, the City of Raleigh, and Wake County government are currently enrolled in the program.

GoRaleigh provides bus service throughout Raleigh.
