The Transit Division within the City of Raleigh’s Transportation Department won three Silver Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication. The Sir Walter Raleigh Awards competition is presented annually by the Raleigh Public Relations Society. The awards showcase exemplary work by North Carolina public relations and communication professionals. These awards, presented on Tuesday, Feb. 22, recognized entries for outstanding communications for the calendar years of 2020 and 2021.

GoRaleigh, the City of Raleigh’s bus service, won an award for its “You’ll Go Wild about GoRaleigh” campaign, launched in 2021. The campaign was created to increase ridership and educate the community about public transportation and its many benefits.

GoRaleigh was also recognized for its video about cleaning and passenger safety during the pandemic. The video, “You Can Count On Us,” depicts the real people who make public transit possible, even in the most difficult of times.

Commute Smart Raleigh, a program of the Transit Division, was recognized for its video, “A Talk About The Walk.” The video provides safety advice and tips on how to best navigate a pedestrian commute. “A Talk About The Walk” is a part of a web series created to advise residents on various transportation methods.

“We are honored our communications campaigns have been recognized by the Raleigh Public Relations Society. Our team works hard to communicate our programs and benefits to the Raleigh community,” stated David Eatman, Assistant Director, Department of Transportation.
