Service Equity Analysis for the Suspended R-Line

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, transit systems throughout the region and nation suspended routes due to low ridership. As a part of federal requirements for any route suspensions lasting longer than 12 months, a service equity analysis is required. The Raleigh Transit Authority set benchmarks to monitor to help determine when the R-Line should return to service. These benchmarks were met in August 2021. Unfortunately, due to the current employment conditions GoRaleigh has not been able to reactivate this service. Since the suspension went past the 12-month mark, the service equity analysis was completed and shows that no disparate or disproportionate impacts to minority and low-income populations have occurred.

This analysis is open for public comment and review until July 31, 2022. For comments or questions, contact GoRaleigh at goraleigh@raleighnc.gov or 919-996-3942.

The Raleigh Transit Authority will review and consider endorsement of the analysis at a Public Hearing scheduled at 4 p.m. on August 11, 2022 during their regularly scheduled meeting.
