GoRaleigh General Manger, Marie Parker Leaving GoRaleigh

Marie Parker - GM of GoRaleigh
GoRaleigh General Manager, Marie Parker, has been selected by the Cape Fear Public Transportation Board of Directors as its new Executive Director. She will begin in this role on December 7, 2020.

Parker has been with GoRaleigh for 21 years. For the past five years, she has served as the General Manager. Before that, she served as the Assistant General Manager, Director of Operations, Director of Finance and Budget and as a Financial Analyst for GoRaleigh.

Throughout Parker’s time with GoRaleigh, she has worked to pursue innovative mobility securement technology, enhanced safety and service for customers and increased system efficiency through improvements in on-time performance systemwide.  In addition, she has improved customer satisfaction through establishment of driver ambassador and personnel training programs.

This year alone, Parker has facilitated GoRaleigh receiving the North Carolina Public Transportation Association’s Transit System of the Year Award and the North Carolina Public Transportation Association’s Transit Safety Award, along with aiding seven new Million Milers’, operators driving one million miles accident-free behind the wheel of a GoRaleigh bus. GoRaleigh has also been designated as a signatory of the American Public Transportation Association’s Health and Safety Commitments Program. She has furthered the GoRaleigh mission of becoming environmentally friendly, adding additional Compressed Natural Gas buses and electric buses, helping to bring our fleet up to 70 percent non-diesel reliant by 2021.

“Marie has been a leader and innovator for the City of Raleigh’s GoRaleigh fixed transit system, steering us successfully over the past five years,” stated David Eatman, Assistant Director, Department of Transportation. “Marie’s many accomplishments over the past 21 years will never be forgotten, she will be greatly missed. Although we are sad for her departure, we are excited for her future success at Wave Transit.”
