Join The New Year New Commute Challenge

Tired of feeling stuck in 2022? Start fresh with a brand-new commute. Join the New Year New Commute Challenge. The City of Raleigh Commute Smart Raleigh team is here to help give you that extra motivation to step into a new routine. During the entire month of January Commute Smart Raleigh will be running a “commuting challenge” where anyone can enter and track their commuting habits to potentially win 1 of 3 gift cards up to $100.

It is free to enter and play, you only need a smartphone and to download the Eventzee App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. After opening the Eventzee App you will be prompted to enter an event code to join the game. The code is NewYear. After entering the code, you will be entered into the New Year New Commute Challenge!

Commute Smart Raleigh works to reduce the number of single-occupant vehicles on the city streets and highways to improve traffic congestion, environmental quality, physical and mental health and financial savings. The New Year New Commute Challenge will promote Raleigh residents to choose another way to commute other than in their car alone.

Rules of the Game:

To enter and play you must be 18 years or older. The contest will run from January 2 through January 31 and close on January 31 at 11:59 pm EST. Prizes will be awarded to the top three point-earners at the close of the contest.

Points are earned by choosing to take alternative modes of transportation. These can include taking the bus, walking/biking to your destination, carpooling or teleworking. To log your transportation choice, follow the instructions on the Eventzee App. Each trip submitted does not necessarily have to be a trip to or from work, trips can also be for daily needs, such as a doctor’s appointment or grocery store visit, but you are only allowed one submission per day.

Choice Point Values:

  • Transit/Bus – 5 points
  • Carpooling – 5 points
  • Biking – 4 points
  • Walking – 3 points
  • Bikeshare/Scooters – 3 points
  • Teleworking – 1 point

All participant submissions will be subject to review by Commute Smart Raleigh team and if improper gameplay is determined the participant will be made ineligible to continue the game.
